Meet the Team

The Nee Kee Wa Nan Working Group:

Working together to guide the process, the Working Group held its first meeting on June 16 and 17, 2022, in Timmins, Ontario. The two-day meeting was held to discuss the roles of the group, define the Initiative’s identity (such as name, vision, mission and logo), as well as to brainstorm what  healing supports would be required. Since this initial meeting, the Working Group has met virtually every two weeks.

The Working Group is made up of community coordinators, mental health support workers and Survivors, including Intergenerational Survivors from across the Muskegowuk territory. Members of the group are responsible for developing protocols to guide the work of Nee Kee Wa Nan and providing updates on the initiative to their communities.

Healing Team:

Nee Kee Wa Nan is supported by a rotating team of mental health professionals trained in both traditional and western forms of healing. Each week, a different member of the Healing Team will be in Fort Albany, operating out of the Initiative Office, 19 Riverside Road, Fort Albany First Nation. This rotation system of support has been developed out of recognition that everyone heals differently and various styles of support may be beneficial in Fort Albany. Please contact a Community Coordinator to learn more about these services and other healing programs offered by the Initiative.
